{The Martin Family ~ a Family, Birthday, Maternity Session}

WOW!  We sure know how to multi-task here at Kat/Eye Studios!

We all waited and waited for good weather, but Mother Nature was just NOT cooperating these few weeks in March/April... we did get lucky with no rain though!  It was a bit chilly and windy, but everyone in the Martin Family was a trooper and we ending up getting some really great shots.
I knew the area in Milwaukee pretty well, as I'd had a few Weddings in that general vicinity last summer (Juneau Town) and so we met up, parked our cars and just wandered around.  We hit a ton of great locations, but I think my personal favorite was an overgrown backyard of some random apartment complex.  It had access from the street, so help ourselves.  No one said anything and it was a nice little adventure!
We ended our session in the parking lot area where we had met and parked and it was the Lincoln Center of the Arts.  AMAZING & BRIGHT colors everywhere!

Michael turns 3! - a Birthday Party

I really adore this child.  Seriously.  I do.  and I should, because I photograph him & his little brother an awful lot!!  and I always get the cutest photos!

Michael just recently turned 3 and his Mom invited me to help capture his Big Day!  We also took a bit of time out from the festivities to snap some of his little brother, who was turning 6 months old.  Everyone got their turn in the spotlight and there are some priceless photos to show it:

It's a GIRL - Newborn Baby Session

So apparently my neighbors upstairs were pregnant...  I know!!!  You're thinking, how can someone who lives in the same house not know the other is pregnant?  Well...easily.  When you work from home as a freelancer, your schedule is pretty different than the general public.  Also, I never leave the house!!  (seriously, if you want to grab a drink or lunch sometime, just ask!)
So anyway, my neighbor gave birth about a month early to a beautiful baby GIRL!  (they already have a 5 yr old boy) So obviously once I figured out about the newest addition - which by the way, almost NEVER cries and we can't hear her at ALL on the first floor - I offered to do some photos.  :-)

She's just precious and was actually quite nice (at times...) during our little session.  I do have to say, it was pretty awesome grabbing my gear and props and simply walking up one flight of stairs...

Mom is going to be using the images on some Birth Announcements and Dad will be making a few screenprints for their walls (he owns a screenprinting business).  It was such and honor to photograph this little one.  And after living in the same house for over 2 years, it was nice to FINALLY get to know a bit about my upstairs neighbors!

Nick Lynch ~ Promo Session

Nick Lynch is a singer, songwriter, and general AWESOME musician.

He's been on American Idol {TWICE!} and has quite the following here in the Chicago area.  He's from a little town about an hour south of the City and hopes to get back there someday, but for now, heading home for a photo shoot was about as good as we could do.
Using my good friend's parent's property down in Kankakee, IL - Nick gladly met up with me one weekday morning and we started photographing.  It was so great and the property lent itself to many different types of photos.
Maybe you'll be spotting these in newspapers, concert flyers, and even a CD cover!
